Marmie! Adopt Me!
Marmie is a wonderful dog who was dropped off because she was very pregnant. She ended up having 10 babies! Marmie is now ready for a loving home herself. Her adoption fee has been paid by a PAWS supporter, so now all she needs is you! Marmie is good with children of all ages and is ok with other animals, but likes to be the dominant dog.
Her adoption fee of $45 covered an adult combination shot, bordetella, spaying and microchipping.
You can call us to set an appointment to meet any of our fostered animals. We have adoption days at Petsmart in Dothan, AL on the second and fourth Saturday of each month. Between the hours of 12-5p.m. (Central Time Zone). Please join us to see some of the wonderful animals that we have up for adoption! Also visit Petsmart any day of the week to view some of our kittens and cats that are available (they are located in the cat room).
Foster Homes: Our animals are in desperate need of temporary homes to provide the time needed to find them permanent homes. If you are interested in adopting or are able to provide temporary care, foster an animal, please call us at 229-524-8890 or 229-254-2100.
News
PAWS always need donations of food, bedding, housing, kennels, fencing, and of course, your contributions of money will always help to provide vet care for these animals. We're working very hard in our school systems to provide education that the children will be able to take home to their parents, concerning spay/neuter, and also the importance of vaccines and heartworm preventive. Heartworms are a big scourge, especially here in the south. We have a number of very dedicated teachers who are a big blessing to our organization. PAWS is providing $20 off on spay/neuter to help encourage people to have this important procedure done. Only when we convince people to have spay/neuter be a part of their pet care, will we stop seeing hungry, hurt dog along the streets and roadways of America. We also want to encourage people to adopt, and to avoid contributing to the profits of those who run puppy mills. Please contact us if you'd like more information about the PAWS concept.
Who We Are
PAWS stands for People for Animal Welfare in the South. The PAWS concept promotes the welfare, protection and humane treatment of animals by uniting rural counties that lack adequate resources to provide for animal care and control on their own. PAWS will help create a centrally located animal care center accessible to all adjacent counties. Through this organizational structure, PAWS will provide education on the humane treatment of animals, promote responsible care and ownership of animals, and actively pursue the prevention of cruelty to animals. Programs such as spay and neuter, animal rescue, foster care, and adoptions, will aid in solving many of our animal problems. Each center will function as a temporary way station of care, refuge, and rehabilitation for animals while awaiting adoption or foster care into a loving home.
Adopting a Friend
If you want to adopt one of our pets, contact us for an adoption application. We'll be happy to email it to you, or take your information over the phone. We want to be sure these sweet animals never have to worry about being abandoned or abused again.
Come Visit Us!
At this time we're a series of foster homes (we have no shelters in any of our 3 counties yet). We'd be happy to have you visit one of our animals with the foster parents.
